- ➤ Carol Wieg and Vivienne Bailey, co-chairs of the Elgin AAUW, announced the 2025 scholarship recipients, with Valeria Hernandez of Elgin set to receive the Betty Medearis Scholarship for education at Northern University and Maricarmen Paredes Lopez from Woodstock to receive the Brooke Transue Legacy Scholarship for health care administration — both winners earned the honors with strong academic records.
