  • ➤ Elgin residents are invited to apply for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship and award programs which honor service, equity and civic responsibility — applications for the Youth and Adult Scholarships are due Dec. 1 and nominations for the Humanitarian Award are due Dec. 20.  City of Elgin
  • ➤ Students and faculty at Elgin Community College pressed the Illinois Board of Higher Education to ask Gov. Pritzker to release over $29 million in state-approved funds for colleges, money that lawmakers approved earlier. The governor’s office said it will hold the funds until federal education policy is stable—critics worry this delay could force tuition hikes and staff cuts.  Shaw Local
