- ➤ Anderson Humane Wildlife Center in Elburn introduced Lottie, an integrated milk snake with reddish blotches, as its ambassador to help people learn that snakes are harmless—she joins other animal ambassadors in educational visits. - ➤ At a public hearing at Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin, about 100 residents and utility advocates testified against Nicor Gas’s proposed 9.21% rate increase — part of a $308 million request to fund new infrastructure—as the Citizens Utility Board sharply criticized the plan. The Illinois Commerce Commission will rule on the proposal in November. Shaw Local
- ➤ Elgin will host an open house on August 12 to review plans to convert the Highland and Lyle Avenues intersection into a roundabout at The Centre of Elgin (100 Symphony Way).
