CRIME NEWS

  • Robert S. Lord, 54, pleaded guilty to felony aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer and misdemeanor drunken driving after a domestic dispute on Sept. 15th, 2024 — he received a seven-year sentence with 472 days credited and an extended term due to his prior record.  Kane County Chronicle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Winston Knolls Foundation for Thriving with Autism received a $15,000 grant from the Global Tech Impact Alliance to launch its STEAM Scholars Program — Igniting Autistic Minds through Interactive Learning, which will equip every classroom at the Elgin school with interactive whiteboards. The program will boost skills like communication, creativity, independence, and workforce readiness for students with autism.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Elgin officials announced that Route 25 will be resurfaced starting Monday, Aug 11, and that daytime lane closures will affect a 1.1-mile section of Dundee Avenue from Page Avenue to the Jane Adams Tollway. The $2.8 million project—modernizing traffic signals and building new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps—will be mostly finished in late November with remaining work planned for spring.  Daily Herald
