- ➤ The Hill BMX racetrack — a top-ranked track in Illinois — will host the 2025 BMX State Championship from Sept. 26-28, drawing thousands to Elgin and boosting local tourism. - ➤ The Illinois Youth Soccer Association will build a new headquarters and training facility on 10 acres at 909 S. McLean Blvd in Elgin after the City Council approved the plan last week. The project will cost between $6 million and $7 million and include a one-story building for offices, classrooms and a physical therapy office, along with a 78-foot air-supported dome covering 118,000 square feet and an outdoor turf field for soccer practices, games and tournaments.
