CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Elgin man, 35-year-old Deondrae L. Clements, charged with multiple felonies, caused a four-vehicle crash in Crystal Lake when he sped through a red light near 9 p.m. Tuesday (striking two sedans and colliding head-on with an SUV) and fled the scene before police later apprehended him in East Dundee; drivers of the sedans sustained minor injuries while the SUV driver suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening. - ➤ Ricardo Hardy, 54, of Elgin, was convicted of five counts of custodial sexual misconduct and five counts of official misconduct for having inappropriate sexual contact with a female inmate—he was fired in May 2023 and is scheduled to return for post-trial motions on Aug. 14, with sentencing pending.
