- ➤ A series of Fourth of July events will take place across the region, with fireworks, parades and festivals planned in towns like Wheaton, Carpentersville and Fox Lake. A Field of Honor at Seven Gables Park and a patriotic concert by the local symphony on July 2+ many other community activities will offer celebrations through early July. Daily Herald
- ➤ The City of Elgin will hold a full slate of Fourth of July events including a parade + pet parade starting at 9 a.m. along a route from Slade Avenue to Highland Avenue near City Hall. Evening festivities at Festival Park, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature live music + food trucks, a pie-eating contest and a free fireworks display starting at 9:30 p.m. with VIP tickets available for $25. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Patricia Dal Santo, who has led the Kane County Regional Office of Education for 13 years, announced she will retire on June 30 — marking the end of her tenure. The board appointed John Jonak of Batavia as her successor and he will begin his role on July 1 — serving out her term until Nov. 3. Daily Herald
