  • Kane County Animal Control will hold a low-cost drive-through rabies vaccination and microchip clinic on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KCAC facility on 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva and will host additional events on Sept. 17 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — pet owners must bring an adult and purchase a registration tag.  Kane County Chronicle

CRIME NEWS

  • A Schaumburg man named Jeremy L. Holt, 26, was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder in connection with a Sunday party shooting near Elgin at a family event on Gingerwood Lane that injured three people including a 70-year-old man, a 36-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.  Daily Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Elgin is offering a free Tree Bank Planting Program that lets residents pick tree types to beautify their yards, improve air quality, plus boost property value. Residents must submit the required form by Aug. 15, plus staff will provide watering, mulching and trimming services to help the trees grow strong.  City of Elgin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ann Marie Buttitta, owner of Blackjack’s Gentleman’s Club in St. Charles Township, applied for a Class E liquor license that costs $2,500 annually with a $150 Sunday endorsement after not having one since 2013 — her request and a similar one from Cafe Parlay in Geneva Township will be reviewed today at 1 p.m. at the Government Center Boardroom in Geneva.  Kane County Chronicle
