- ➤ South Elgin’s Gail Borden Library Branch reopened Saturday after an eight-month renovation that tripled its size to roughly 12,000 square feet and added new services such as a dedicated children’s area, a business center and extra study rooms - the grand reopening featured a ribbon cutting, live music and special activities. The library at 127 S. McLean Blvd now offers extended hours to better serve families and students, running Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 5. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 46-year-old South Elgin woman died early Saturday morning after her gray 2021 Kia Sorento left the road and struck a traffic sign, streetlight pole, electrical utility pole, and tree near the intersection of Randall Road and Stearns Road — she was taken to Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital where her death was confirmed while police continue investigating the crash. - ➤ Two men were injured after a shooting in Elgin early Sunday morning — police said officers responded to a call on the 400 block of Bowen Court, located the victims in a vehicle near Sherman Avenue, and transported both to a local hospital. Daily Herald
