COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Seigle Foundation renewed its support for the Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project to help low-wage workers by improving work conditions and opportunities in farming, landscaping, food service and snow plowing in Elgin and Dundee—while the foundation also awarded nearly $300k in education grants to local charities. This support strengthens efforts to aid immigrant communities and boost youth success.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kane County Judge Michael Noland filed a libel lawsuit against Geneva blogger Jeffrey Ward after a process server failed six times to serve him and a DeKalb judge approved alternative service by mail and posting - the lawsuit follows a Jan 31 blog post falsely claiming that Noland cheated on his wife and seeks damages over $100,000 with the next court date set for Aug. 6. This legal action comes as the judge seeks to confirm the proper notice was given to the defendant.  Kane County Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Heart Association recognized the Elgin Fire Department for high-quality cardiac and stroke care under its Mission: Lifeline program — the department has participated since 2015 and continuously improves EMS response with ongoing training and quality checks.  City of Elgin
