Good morning, Elgin.

A Chicago man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for supplying fentanyl-laced heroin that led to fatal overdoses of a Harvard man and an Elgin woman who died in Algonquin—he did not attend his sentencing in McHenry County court.

Elgin’s Unsheltered Pilot Program in partnership with AID has shown positive progress since 42 former Tent City residents were moved to temporary housing at the Lexington Inn & Suites after a series of fires.

The program provided case management for 26 residents, reached out to 13 others, and has helped some secure permanent supportive housing—while one woman overcame drug issues and reunited with her children.
