CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Elgin police said that a Wheeling man, Anthony C. Ramirez, 26, of the 200 block of West Wayne Place, lured two girls to an Elgin hotel on May 30 and is accused of sexually abusing one of them while arranging their transportation—he faces multiple felony charges and has a court date today. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Elgin Symphony Orchestra is offering a chance to win pairs of season subscriptions for its 76th season with winners selected weekly in June. The subscriptions include tickets to six concerts at the Hemmens Cultural Center starting Oct. 11—12 and individual tickets will be available from Aug. 21. Daily Herald

- ➤ The Elgin Police Department has been recognized by the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Council for Tier II accreditation—affirming its commitment to high service standards. The department first earned Tier I in 2023 by meeting 69 industry standards and advanced after an on-site assessment in March evaluated 181 requirements. City of Elgin
- ➤ Kane County residents who are behind on rent and utility payments and face eviction can apply for help through the Homeless Prevention Program until July 31—eligible applicants must meet income guidelines and live in qualifying rental units to receive assistance with past-due and upcoming payments and security deposits.
