- ➤ Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin will host The Weave, an open-market event for selling, swapping and giving away handmade items and clothing on Saturday, June 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. The deadline for vendors to apply has been extended to May 30 + there are no fees and unclaimed items at the free clothes swap station will be donated. - ➤ The City of Elgin is asking residents to review its draft Climate Action Plan, which sets ways to lower greenhouse gas emissions and boost local sustainability — comments must be sent in by May 28. City of Elgin
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Elgin will pressure wash several downtown parking decks Tuesday, May 27 through Thursday, May 29. DGO Premium Services will require partial and full closures, with the Fulton Deck closed (7 a.m. to 4 p.m.) on Tuesday and the Centre Deck closed (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.) overnight from Wednesday to Thursday while signage guides drivers. - ➤ Due to Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, garbage, recycling, and organics collections in Elgin will be delayed by one day, with pickups shifted to the following day. Residents should place materials at the curb by 6 a.m. on their adjusted day — for example, Monday pickups will occur on Tuesday — so they can follow the new schedule. City of Elgin
