  • The 2025 Summer Fun guide offers a searchable 64-page PDF that lists local and regional festivals, art shows, outdoor concerts, and other seasonal events to help families plan summer outings. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lodge Foundation has transformed the old Elks Lodge at 18 Villa St into the new Lodge Performing Arts Center at a cost of $2.6 million, a project that will bring local art shows and events to our community. A gala with a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar is scheduled for Friday, May 30 with pre-show festivities starting at 6 p.m.+Tickets cost $125 and proceeds will support affordable local arts programs.  Daily Herald

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A nonprofit group has warned that ComEd customers will face a $10 monthly increase starting June 1, adding about $100 more to their yearly bills this summer. The Citizens Utility Board blamed poor grid planning by PJM Interconnection — noting that power generators may profit from the change while urging customers to consider energy-saving steps.  Kane County Chronicle

  • Hanover Township will host its Summer Tutoring Program starting June 2 until Aug. 4 at the Town Hall, 250 S. Route 59 in Bartlett—board certified teachers will lead weekly one-hour sessions for groups of four students in grades 2-8 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a registration fee of $50 per student.  Daily Herald

  • Kane County released the 2025 Youth Voices Forum on Mental Health Report that outlines student priorities and recommendations following a Feb. 7 forum at Elgin Community College where 86 students from 10 high schools discussed issues such as cyberbullying and discrimination + suggested steps for schools, parents, and students to improve mental health support.  Daily Herald
