- ➤ On Friday, officers at four Dunkin’ locations raised funds for Special Olympics during the annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser, with Detective Blake Huffmon even wearing a Dunkin’ coffee cup mascot costume despite the heat and discomfort. They hope to beat last year’s nearly $8,000 donation mark — a boost for the Law Enforcement Torch Run that supports athletes all summer. Daily Herald

- ➤ Today the city of Elgin will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. at the theater on 45 Symphony Way at Hemmens Cultural Center following a three-year, $14.4 million expansion that added 11,000 square feet and updated key areas—guests will explore the renovated space, enjoy complimentary refreshments and watch the 360 ALLSTARS perform at 4 p.m. to preview the upcoming season. - ➤ The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office resumed full in-person operations today at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles after $2 million in repairs fixed the building’s air-conditioning system—funds coming from the American Rescue Plan and county capital funds. Walk-in services are now available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday—excluding court holidays. Kane County Chronicle
- ➤ Elgin City Council held a swearing-in Wednesday when Diana Alfaro, the top vote-getter in the April election, began her first term while longtime member Carol Rauschenberger stepped down after 12 years of service.
