- ➤ A Kane County jury convicted St. Charles driving instructor Paul Bocska of 16 felony counts of sexual assault after he skipped his trial — an arrest warrant was issued and a sentencing hearing is set for June 4. Kane County Chronicle

- ➤ Voices Unlimited chorus will present their spring concert “Thank You For the Music” at Journey of Hope Methodist Church in Elgin on May 18. The mixed-voice group will perform sacred and secular songs including works by Streisand and Diamond (doors open at 2:30 p.m.) with additional accompaniment and special solo performances (tickets cost $10 or $5 for children under 12). - ➤ Scott Stalcup, a newly elected board member from Sugar Grove, was sworn in at the Kaneland D302 School Board meeting on April 28 — his four-year term will end in 2029 as incumbent members Aaron Lawler and Jennifer Simmons retained their seats while former board president Addam Gonzales lost his seat. - ➤ Olga del Toro, a lead risk assessor with the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, retired after 30 years at the Kane County Health Department. She used an X-ray fluorescence machine to inspect homes for lead and taught families how to reduce their lead risks. Daily Herald
