- ➤ The Forest Preserve District of Kane County will offer free wood chips on Sunday, May 4, with chips available for pickup (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at Burnidge Forest Preserve in Elgin and Big Rock Forest Preserve in Big Rock. District staff will assist with loading by tractor (non-district machinery is not allowed) as residents bring their own shovels and containers. Kane County Chronicle
