- ➤ Nothing But Treble, Elgin’s premiere women’s choir, will perform 'Songs of Earth and Spirit' at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at First Presbyterian Church (240 Standish St). - ➤ The Forest Preserve District of Kane County will open its campgrounds May 1 for camping at Paul Wolff Campground in Elgin and Big Rock Campground in Big Rock, with check-in at 3 p.m. and check-out at noon — campers must reserve online now to choose sites and pay the correct fees. Daily Herald

- ➤ The Illinois Department of Transportation directed the city to post a new 29-ton weight limit on the Chicago Street bridge after a recent inspection, and officials emphasized that the bridge remains safe despite signs of natural wear. Preliminary engineering for the planned replacement began in 2024 and will continue into early 2027 — the bridge carries about 4,500 vehicles each day. City of Elgin
