- ➤ CASA Kane County announced a Cross-County Advisory Council to address the rise in children entering foster care by uniting community leaders and groups from health care, education, legal services, child welfare, and nonprofits. - ➤ Tyler A. Schmidt of South Elgin was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving after his vehicle struck a school bus on Oct. 31, killing two passengers and injuring another, with 827 days already served—he pleaded guilty to the charges. - ➤ Incumbents on the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees will remain in office after all ballots were counted and canvassing will certify the totals next week—Tina Medlin Willson earned 24,655 votes while Daniel Jaquez received 18,819 votes in the two-seat race for six-year terms against challenger Greg Dobbins who got 18,377 votes, and Rick Guzman ran unopposed for an unexpired four-year term.
