- ➤ Scouting America Three Fires Council in St. Charles hosted an annual food drive in March that collected 28,476 food items—enough to feed 250 families for a week—and more than 600 youth from 60 Scout packs and troops raised $2,919 to help local pantries, partnering with nearly 20 food banks in the surrounding counties. - ➤ Elgin planning and zoning commissioners approved the petition from Jane and Buds Cannabis Dispensary on Monday to convert the former Boston Market at 205 S. Randall Road, and the plan will go to city council for final review. The 2,500-square-foot building — vacant since October — will receive new sidewalks, landscaping, and a modern black-and-white update while operating on set daily hours with a build-out cost estimated between $600,000 and $800,000.
