Good morning, Elgin.

More than 100 people gathered at the Kane County Courthouse in Geneva on April 10th for CASA Kane County's Hands Around the Courthouse event to raise child abuse awareness and prevention.

Officials said advocates will boost school outreach and support services (with new programs started in 2022) to help protect children (as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month efforts).

Families in Kane County will enjoy several Easter egg hunts and bunny visits from April 12 to 19 at venues including Batavia Park, Heritage Woods, Elburn Lions Club, New Covenant Bible Church, Arcada Theatre, Geneva United Methodist Church and Algonquin Lakes Park—each event offering unique activities and times. Elgin residents can join a special adult egg hunt at Vern’s Tavern on April 18 at 4:30 p.m.

Freshman Alyssa Freeman from St. Francis hit 14 for 23 for a .609 batting average with a double and four home runs in seven games while driving in 15 runs and helping her team to a 6 to 1 record — she was voted the Kane County Chronicle Athlete of the Week in an online vote.
