- ➤ Restaurateur Matthew Habib reopened Legit Dogs & Ice in a strip mall at 322 Randall Road in South Elgin this week — the revamped spot features punk rock style, graffiti art by local skaters, free retro video games and a menu of hot dogs, burgers and shaved ice that recalls his original food truck concept. - ➤ Elgin police found Karen Schepers’ canary yellow Toyota Celica in the Fox River on Monday and later recovered skeletal remains inside it, yet many still wonder why the river was not searched when she vanished on April 16, 1983 after celebrating with coworkers at a Carpentersville bar. - ➤ The Great Elgin Pipe Organ Tour will visit First Presbyterian Church at 240 Standish St in Elgin on Sunday, March 30 at 4 p.m. The tour will show a tracker organ built in 1979 by W. Zimmer — one of only three in Elgin — and feature works by Bach, Pachelbel, and Mendelssohn played by Jeff Neufeld with the church choir and piano-organ duets by Joshua Myatzaw while admission is free with a freewill offering for the immigrant ministry fund.
