- ➤ Kairos Counseling Center is closing after 50 years of service—its board is hosting an open house on Sunday, March 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church at 240 Standish St. to honor those who supported its work. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers on Route 20 in Elgin will face delays beginning Monday as IDOT starts repair work on the bridge over St. Charles and Liberty streets and Poplar Creek. The $27.4 million project requires daily lane closures and shifts—work expected to finish late in 2025 as upgrades include new lighting, storm sewers and noise barriers. Daily Herald
- ➤ The Elgin Police Department will launch the Safe Together Police Academy on May 27, 2025 to connect officers with individuals who have disabilities and their caregivers. The monthly program runs for eight consecutive sessions and requires Elgin residents aged 16 and older to register with a caregiver on a first-come, first-served basis. City of Elgin

- ➤ Kane County Health Department is hosting events throughout April to teach people how to keep kids safe and support families. The programs include a webinar on March 28 about child safety, a free online session on April 2 on spotting abuse, a Wear Blue Day on April 4, and a garden display at the Aurora office—all meant to help prevent child abuse.
